American artist Angela Lynn Fraleigh is a painter currently residing in Brooklyn, NY and Allentown, PA. Having won several awards and grants, she has gone on to exhibit solo in galleries in New York, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, as well as group shows in New York, Boston, Turin, Italy, to name but a few. She has also lectured widely.
Born in 1989 in Indonesia and raised in Canada, Tessar Lo mixes a traditional Eastern style with hints of modern pop culture in his work.
Natalie Shau is Lithuanian mixed media artist. She found interest in fashion and portrait photography and digital illustration. Despite her personal work, Natalie also creates artwork and photography for musicians, theater, fashion magazines, writers and advertisement.
In her works she combines photography, digital technology and 3D-modeling. The result is a strange, almost surreal portrait style narrative. Shau’s work has tones of classic Russian literature and fairy tales. Check out her website for more examples of her illustrative and photography work.
American artist Michael Shapcott, is known for his daring colour palette and striking portraits. Shapcott initially studied illustration, later switching to fine art for the remainder of his studies, graduating in 2007 with a diploma in Fine Art. He credits his education for basic technical experience but feels that only in breaking some of the traditional methods he was taught and experimenting on his own did he develop his distinct style.
Born in Northern England, Mark Rowney was educated at St Martins School of Art in London. He went on to to work with several of his favourite publishers, producing artwork for Penguin Books, The Radio Times and various other BBC publications.
Rowney went on to live in New York where he continued to build on his commercial experience through projects with the New York Times and Time Magazine.
Now having moved back to the UK, Rowney now resides in the North East, where he pursues his love for nature in contemporary art. Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori muse is his pet goldfish, which has become the integral theme for his work. Sounds strange I know, but stick with me. On first coming across Fukahori’s work, I assumed his ultra realistic pieces were real, and therefore deeply cruel. Having skimmed the article I realised I was mistaken. Fukahori paints incredibly realistic three-dimensional goldfish using acrylic paint layered over clear resin. The time-consuming technique gives his work incredible depth and realism. Cast in a variety of containers, from large sushi pots, to small bowls and even traditional fairground bags, Riusuke’s goldfish look so shockingly real it’s hard to believe they started out as abstract colour stains.
Fukahori debuted his work in London in January 2012. For those unable to attend, photographer Dominic Alves captured the exhibition. Although you can see the quality of the work through the images below, please take the time to watch the video, which gives an incredible insight into the painstaking technique developed by Fukahori.

Growing up in Kansas, Kris Kuksi spent his youth in rural seclusion with his working mother, two older brothers, and an absent father. Kuksi has developed an intricate, meticulous technique synonymous with the great renaissance artists.
Each sculpture embodies the trademarks of his philosophy and practice, while serving as a testament to the multifaceted nature of perception – From timeless iconic references of Gods and Goddess, to challenging ideas of organized religion and morality, to the struggle to understand, and bend, the limits of mortality.

Yan Nascimbene spent his childhood in France and Italy. After working as a photographer in a Paris fashion studio, he studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and at the University of California at Davis.
In 1986, Nascimbene started working as an illustrator in France. After meeting and marrying his wife Joan Parazette, the couple went on to move back to California in 1991.
Nascimbene’s work has received critical acclaim as well as being exhibited and published worldwide. He is the recipient of a gold and two silver medals from the Society of Illustrators, New York and won the Bologna International Graphic Award three times. In 2011 the Venice Biennale, as part of Italy’s national unity anniversary, selected Yan Nascimbene’s work for the “Italy in the World” exhibition, at the Italia Pavilion.
Yan Nascimbene and his wife Joan Parazette, a painter and author, currently live in the South of France. Nascimbene is currently writing a series of short stories for adults.
